Name: Grace Breed: Thoroughbred Story: Grace was bred and raised racehorse. She was of a sweet disposition, that made her well liked when she was a foal. However, there were boys that would throw rocks at her in the pasture to make her run, so when the time came for her to be put into training. She didn't enjoy it. Breaking to a saddle and bridle took twice as long, and when they finally got her on the track, she started bucking when they asked for a gait faster than a trot. So the owners gave up and sent her to auction. To this day she shies from people standing by the fenceline, and when she is ridden Grace breaks out bucking when asked to move faster than a trot.

Name: Dustin Breed: Arabian Story: Dustin was originally a children's hunter horse, and he was quite good at it too. He loved jumping, and his original owners trained him well. However their daughter eventually outgrew him and he had to be sold. The new owners were rich, and didn't totally understand horses. So when Dustin refused a jump, which all horses do occasionally, he was beat over the head with a crop. He soon became unmanageable and a halter couldn't even be put on him. The trainers here have worked with him some, and now a halter can be put on, if one is very slow and careful, but he still won't accept a bridle.

Name: Applejack Breed: Haflinger Story: Applejack is really quite the sweetheart and he loves to please people. Unless it's a male. When he was being weaned Applejack was beaten by a man, who happened to be drunk, while being led away from his mother. Since then he's always fled from men, and when cornered by a man, he reared, charged, and ended up breaking the man's arm. He's well suited to any girl, and is more than happy to be ridden by one. His favorite thing is chasing cows, odd for a Haflinger, but he loves it.

Name: Apache Breed: Appaloosa Story: Apache is the wild child of the barn. He was rescued from a farm that had been all but abandoned, and the animal control officers could barely get a rope on him. It was uncovered that he was often left outside and unattended for extended periods, and had severe rain rot when he was rescued. He's since healed and the trainers have managed to clam him a down a good bit, but he still won't accept anything more than being tacked up and led. As soon as someone gets on his back, he'll buck, crowhop, spin, and do just about anything else he can to get the person off of him. It's going to take someone with a firm hand, patience, and a good deal experience to get him calmed down.

Name: Silka Breed: Connemara Story: Silka was born blind. While she can usually navigate her way pretty well, she definately needs some help from her riders. Because of her blindness, it would be very difficult to train her to jump. The trainers would gladly help with this, but would rather give her a good long while to adjust to her life here at Cross Creek. She's calm, steady mare, and actually a excellent performer; her handicap is her only real problem except that she spooks at loud noises. She could easily be trained to get past this, though, and she needs a rider who she can depend and who will depend on her.

Name: Tallon Breed: Mustang Story: This four year old mare isn't something an inexperienced person would want to tangle with. She can be stubborn and intimidating, and needs someone who isn't going to be afraid to stand up to her. And someone who isn't afraid of a bite or two. She was adopted from the BLM program by Cross Creek several months ago, and since then Charlotte has been the main one in charge of her. She'll be the one who gets the say on who Tallon goes to, and she'll continue to help with her training, as the mare isn't even fully halter trained yet.

Name: Cougar Breed: Miniature Horse Story: Cougar was a natural born driving horse. At the age of six, he was sold to an elderly woman. She often showed him in Driving classes. All went well for a long while. He grew overweight from his poor diet plan. He loved the multitude of attention he gained everyday. But all of it stopped. For weeks he roamed his rocky pasture, awaiting any visit from his friend. She never came. Once he was found, he was placed in a horrible home. His round haybelly shrunk rapidly, newfound scars were found everyday. He had been placed into a pasture full of standard sized horses too large for him to befriend. It was a year before anyone did anything about it. He was finally sold once again, to Cross Creek Ranch. He hasn't had much human attention for a while, and needs to gain his weight back. In time, he'll be able to pull a cart once again, trust humans once again, and lose his fear of other animals.

Name: Benjamin [Ben] Breed: Shire Story: Ben is the clumsy, but lovable boy of the barn. He is twelve, and tends to be a favorite. Though Ben is sweet, he is the lowest on the pecking order. He has many scars from many battles with the bigger horses when he was younger. He has a fear of other horses because of this, and must be kept away from the others. When he gets near other horses, he tends to Rear, bolt blindly. Because of this, he once ran into a tree, casing a faint scar on his shoulder. He is small for a Shire, 17.3 at the withers. He can also be ridden, though his strides are long, and hard to stay on with.
