Summer. The Season of freedom. The days are long, and much warmer than usual. The low rumble of thunder is a distant memory. The soft pillow-like form of clouds is the usual sight. When it does rain, it doesn't stay for long, and leaves behind it a sticky, muggy form of humidity. Keep work on you're horse light, and head indoors if you feel lightheaded.

A sidebar has been found and finally put up. I've been working very hard with it today, and I hope soon it will be up to you're standards. More 'OTM's' will be set up soon, and images will be made instead of simple texts. I'm waiting on that for the sole reason that I have yet to get a new skin up. Please PM me any skins you might know of that may be used, seeing as I have no time to make one myself. That is all for now.

It was quiet out here. Not much happening besides people chattering in the streets or rushing along trying to make it to where ever they were heading. Running their lives the way they wanted to, the way Dan wanted to. He had noticed a change in himself since he arrived. He was more relaxed and in tune with the country side. Kay had changed a little to. She slept last night for longer then 7 hours and she'd point out little things and giggle or stare in awe. The country life was finally theirs. Daniel ran his fingers through his hair, a habit he picked up for no apparent reason. Kayleigh's little hand grasped his, her legs trying to keep up with his longer legs. It was funny the way she walked to, slightly lop-sided or simply waddled a little. Her tiny feet stopped making the pitter patter from her shoes, Daniel's hand was pulled back. His eyes looked to Kay and the pouting face she had, as if saying I don't like this. Letting go of his hand she held both arms out, her eyes turning into those puppy dog ones. Threatening to cry if he didn't pick her up and do it quick. Giving a nod Daniel scooped Kay up into his arms, adjusting her to his hip and giving her a little smile. She smiled back but only for a brief moment and her hands held her stomach. "Hungry are you?' He asked, hoping he had enough money at the moment to feed her, let alone himself. He hadn't found a job yet and it was heard by the rumble that came from their stomaches. She nodded sadly and buried her head into his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his neck and holding on tight. He thought for a moment about where there could be a place that would feed her little face. He began looking around. hmmm.. Where to eat.. Money's a good idea. He got his hand down into his pocket, reaching for his wallet. Opening it up and trying to hold everything in before it fell out. Flipping through he finally spotted a $20 note but nothing else until the end of the week. He sighed pathetically. Daniel's eyes wandered, searched, glanced and scanned every place around him, his eyes rested on a little diner. Daniel wrapped both arms around Kayleigh to support her. watching the traffic until all was clear he hurried across the road and onto the footpath. It looked like a nice little place that wouldn't over charge and might even have staff that smile, which is one thing he never saw at Somersby falls. He pushed the door open using a free hand, stepping inside his nostrils were filled with a sweet smell of coffee and donuts. Dan looked around, there was only a few people in the diner so seating wasn't a problem. Walking over to the menu he tapped Kay on the shoulder. She turned around and rested her arm on Dan as if he was an arm chair. She looked at the food in front of her, covered by a sneeze guard. Everything looked so good to her so Dan lent a helping hand. 'How about a Vegemite sandwich?' Kayleigh thought for a moment, her brain ticking away as if the decision was the last she'd ever make. Soon enough a small smile crept along her lips and it was agreed. Vegemite was her favorite one week, the next it was peanut butter. It must be Vegemite week. Daniel placed his wallet on the counter before he dropped it, thinking over what he wanted but at the same time didn't want to run out of money, so he's decision was quickly made up. 'Are you right there?' A lady called. She peered at the two through her glasses, her red hair pulled back tight into a pony tail. Her appearance was neat and tidy and her manners were quite nice. Another thing you didn't get where he used to live was a staff member asking him before he had to ask for help. 'Just a kid's Vegemite sandwich and a coffee thanks, 2 sugars' The lady smiled, writing it all down roughly and calculating the cost. Kayleigh squirmed and wriggled, pushing on Dan's chest trying to get down, One minute she wants to walk the next she wants to be carried. Daniel re-adjusted her on his hip, his attempt to get her to sit still actually worked this time. Her eyes stared outside the window watching a little puppy bark at people walking past. The corner of Dan's lips rose into a smile, then handed the money over to the lady behind the counter. While she ran it through the register he looked around for a seat. Finally spotting a close one he placed Kay down onto the ground gently, her little hand instantly grabbed his, Her little legs already heading in the right direction. He lifted her into a child booster seat though at first having trouble since she squirmed again and let out an annoyed grunt. Daniel sat her down and brushed her hair from her face. She smiled, knowing that a Vegemite sandwich would soon be in front of her and she could shove it in her mouth and make a mess for Dan to clean up after wards. Sitting down Daniel played with what he had left in his wallet, a sigh escaped his lips as his mind was ticking over. He was hopeful to soon start work since he didn't expect to run out of money so quickly before he did.
Kay looked over, spotting another child in a seat, being fed spoonfuls of god-knows-what and squeezing it in between his fingers. She was getting hungrier by the second and Vegemite sandwiches isn't something she's willing to wait for. Her eyes started to water and a high pitched forced noise came up through her throat and bursting out into tears. Dan was going to loose his mind if she was going to start crying all day again. Yesterday was bad enough. A moment later the lady brought over Daniel's coffee, placing it in front of him and the sandwich to Kay. She even had it cut up in squares, making it easier for Kayleigh to not miss her mouth. Kay giggled and grabbed a piece, shoving it in her mouth and chewing along with her fingers still attached to it. "Thank you" Daniel smiled to the lady and she simply smiled back, she looked to Kayleigh then began walking over to the next table, looking back to the child sitting with Dan. Kay munched away quite happily and quietly, which was a first. Dan sat back, another exhausted sigh soon smothered by his lips touching the coffee mug, sliding down his throat and warming his insides. that's what he needed. Kay grabbed another piece, stuffing it into her mouth before she had finished the other one. Vegemite smeared on her lips and cheeks, her fingers playing in it. It's what kids do.

Tense. Things were tense, teetering on the edge of a cliff. Storms always gave Charlotte this feeling. While the sky was blue, she could feel it approaching, and so could the animals. The air was charged with static electricity, making the hair on the back of her neck stand up. Everything had been unnaturally calm and still, and now wind the wind had started to pick up, rustling the branches and bushes. And a change was coming, things were about to shift; she’d felt it coming since the moment Taylor had showed up in the barn. So she was going to squeeze every last drop of vivaciousness out of what she had now.
A sharp noise caught Charlotte’s attention immediately, as the streets were strangely quiet. Riot, the large black wolf she’d raised from a cub, stopped in his tracks besides her, both human and companion looking around. Riot moved forward to a trashcan beside the sidewalk, and a blur of fur sped out from behind it. As the blur slowed down in front of the Tippy Creek Diner, it took the shape of a mutt puppy that very, very strongly resembled a German Shepherd. Charlotte smiled and jogged forward, Riot at her side. The puppy shied slightly at first, but then the obviously stray puppy stepped forward to greet the new pair, barking at several passers-by who he seemed to think were getting a little too close to their little group. Charlotte glanced up to the diner to see a little girl watching them as Riot nosed the little puppy in a friendly manner.
After a moment of getting acquainted, Charlotte scooped up the puppy. It seemed content to stay in her arms as she climbed the two or three steps from the sidewalk to the door to the diner. The owners welcomed animals, as long as they wouldn’t be running wild through the kitchen and barking their heads off. Plus, Charlotte was very good friends with them. She pushed open the door with her back, letting Riot go inside ahead of them.
Charlotte whistled as Riot took trotted forward, headed for a little girl with a peanut butter sandwich smeared on across her face, the same one had been looking at them through the window. He glanced back to Charlotte as he reached the girl, but he began pushing his nose against her hand in hopes of getting attention. Charlotte frowned and whistled a second time, and Riot turned around and returned to her side reluctantly as she walked up to the man with a slightly apologetic expression, the puppy still in her arms.
“Sorry about that. He may look a little scary, but he’s rather pathetically non-fierce.” As to prove her point, Riot pushed his head into the man’s hand, asking to be pet. Charlotte smirked down at him before returning her attention to the man. She didn’t recognize him, which was odd for it being such a small town. “I’m Charlotte Verne, by the way. I’d shake your hand but…” She shrugged her shoulders to indicate the puppy in her arms, who had now turned onto his back and was viewing the whole scene upside down, his tongue hanging out slightly as he panted. Charlotte smiled again and looked back to the man. “So are you two new in town?”
Life is not a spectator sport. Win, lose, or draw, the game is on. So go ahead: argue with the ref, change the rules, cheat a little, take a break and lick to your wounds. But play. Play hard, play fast. Play like there's no tomorrow. It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game. So grab it by the horns, seize the day; take your pick of the metaphors, but get out there and don’t hold back.

It was rather quiet in the diner, the only noises that could be heard came from the music playing, forks and knives banging on plates and the occasional hiccup from the lady sitting behind them. Dan could tell that she was getting frustrated since she began cursing under her breath after each hiccup and growling at herself. A strained smile crept along Daniel's lips as he tried so hard not to laugh at what she was saying while cursing. If only the diner could hear her mumbled words. Daniel's teeth clamped down onto the inside of his bottom lip, biting it harder the more he got the urge to crack up laughing and make a total fool of himself and embarrass the lady. He can see the headlines already 'Newcomer Is A Nut job'. Yet he'd fit the description some days. Kayleigh was still forcing food into her tiny mouth, majority of the time she surprises Daniel of how much her little trap can take. Daniel took another sip of his well made coffee, the liquid running easily down his throat again. At the same time Daniel's mind wondered as he stared into space just thinking about the usual and trying to come up with some bright idea for money. His eyes wandered down to the table, realizing there was today's paper under his elbow. There's a start...
Opening up the paper he flipped through, glancing at a few pages that looked interesting at the time until finally finding the section he was after. Picking up his back pack he opened it up, taking out one of kayleigh's crayons. Kay looked up and gave Daniel a foul look as if to say 'that's mine, put it back'. Dan just smiled at her and put his head down. Kay's attention turned back to her food anyway and she started squishing it again. There was only a few babysitters that looked half decent or had good enough qualifications. Dan always found it scary leaving Kayleigh with a stranger, simply for the fact that anything can go wrong at anytime but you get that with any parent. Daniel continued searching through the paper, his head down, crayon ready to be used and oh don't forget the coffee. Kay's eyes looked up hearing the door open again, seeing a lady walk in with dogs, her eyes lit up. Kay's Vegemite covered index finger rose and she pointed as if she never seen one before. 'Look!' Kayleigh's voice rang through the diner and almost everyone looked up at Kay and turned heads to where she was pointing. Daniel slowly looked up and then a smile was given at Kay's excitement. This was what Daniel had noticed when they moved here. She never used to point, she was always very quiet and she seems to be more relaxed at times. At least she liked it here for now and he was hoping she would give the place a chance. Kay's head turned back to her sandwich, well what was left of it. Daniel placed his coffee to his lips once more, the warmth sliding down his throat, swallowing Dan let out a sigh and went back to the search for something. Anything.
Kay turned around in her seat, watching the dogs with a stare only a curious child could give. She was eager to know what they were, where they came from and why they had so many legs. Her eyes watched as one of the dog's started walking over. Kay grabbed a piece of squished crust and held it open to the dog in front of her. Although, it was dropped as a loud whistle sounded, making Kay jump and quickly turn her head to the lady. Daniel looked up, only to see a dog walk away from there table and Kay sitting quietly staring at the piece she dropped. A moment later Daniel looked up as a lady spoke to him. Giving introductions and what not. "That's alright, No harm done. I'm Daniel James and this little mess is Kayleigh' Dan introduced the two and Kayleigh sat quietly staring at the puppy in the lady's arms. Raising her little index finger again she pointed and let out a giggle. She was fascinated by the fact one was really big and the other was a lot smaller but all had four legs and looked like a dog in a book Dan was reading to her. Kay hadn't had much contact with animals besides a fish he brought her and that ended with the bowl all over the floor and Kay sitting on the ground, the fish in front of her and water every where. She had the most upset look on her face when she poked the fish and it didn't move. 'We only moved here a few days ago, just finally getting out and seeing what's around' Dan let a friendly smile crept along his lips once again, another habit he had was smiling even when nothings funny, when nothing interesting and when he's walking down the street he bursts out laughing at something that happened yesterday. Then he'd cop a weird look from Kay as if to say 'Do it again and I'll call the white coats' but in the end, the sound of Daniel's laugh gives Kay a funny feeling to join in. What are daughters for? Yet there were times Kay made Daniel so paranoid that Dan would do the most drastic action. For example, Dan walked into a room and Kay sat there watching him then started cracking up and falling sideways while laughing. Dan even asked her what she was laughing at. In the end, he changed his clothes, walked out and she did it again. Causing paranoid Daniel to get even more confused. He walked toward her, not knowing she had a water spray bottle behind her and ended up having to get changed again because he was soaking wet. She planned the whole thing.. Well that's what Dan thinks.
